Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
